I just secured a deal with Inspirosity Gallery in Beaver, Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh Area) (Map). They have chosen to display and sell 10 of my works including 8 of my watercolors, and 2 of my large acrylic paintings. I think this a step in the right direction for me. This appears to be the most professional gallery I have worked with to date. They have agreed to help with shipping, framing, and seem pretty confident about selling my work. You can visit their website to see their up-coming events including their grand opening, and a night with Shihan (national slam poet champion as seen on HBO's Def Poetry Jam).

We have added a new downloads section to the website where you can download free stuff. The first thing we added to the downloads section is some free wallpapers of my artwork for your computer. The second thing we added is free music. The last group musical project I was involved in was a band called CCCCCCC. In the short but busy lifetime of this group we put out this 4 song E.P. "A Crime of Opportunity Created by Serious Human Error". You can download this CD for free in the new downloads section. I am very proud of this CD and I wanted to share it with you. Download it and let me know what you think. My first solo release will be available here soon. Stay tuned for the release date.

It has been a long time since we have updated the website. I apologize for this long wait. We have faced many obstacles in the last three months. If you live in Michigan you understand the miserable winter we endured this year, but it is spring now and we have updated and improved virtually every aspect of the website. 19 new paintings have been added to the gallery, and at least 19 more will be added soon. The Etsy store (click on 'Store' to get there) is currently being updated and soon you will be able to purchase many new original paintings and prints. In the meantime there are many prints and original paintings already available. A Downloads section will be added soon where you will be able to download free wallpapers of some of my artwork. Soon I will post a few of the preliminary tracks for download from my first solo album entitled "Eat Your Young" scheduled to release summer 2008, and will be available for free download here on my website. It is looking like it will be a good spring and summer with many new paintings, events, and exhibitions. Stay updated by checking back or join my mailing list (in the contact section).

Unfortunately, my artwork was not featured in the current release of Foto+Graphic Magazine. The publishers of Foto+Graphic have instead started a new magazine (Art+Graphic Magazine) in which my artwork will be featured in the first issue. The magazine release is scheduled for November 7.

Some of my artwork was chosen to be part of a touring exhibit traveling through Europe. Wrangler's THIS IS WANTED events will have live performances from a major headline band, plus local and international talent, interactive art exhibitions and film screenings. My work (amongst others) will be seen digitally on large projection screens during the festivals. This opportunity was given to me through a contest put on by Dazed Digital online magazine. My work will be seen in Stockholm, Sweden August 30th through September 2nd and also in Milan, Italy September 20th through September 23rd.
Thank you,

For those of you who read the latest issue of Urbancode magazine, I assure you, I live in Grand Rapids, MI, not Flint. I am not sure where the confusion came from, but they printed that I was from Flint. Anyway, "The Motorcycle Boy" did get a full page, which was pretty sweet. Again, if you didn't get your copy of the free semi-monthly (8 times a year) e-zine you can subscribe to it by emailing "ADD ME" to urbancodemag@gmail.com.
The latest issue of theSpindle came out on Saturday. This marks my first adventure into the realms of comic strips. "Bunny Rabbit" is not exactly Calvin and Hobbes. The e-zine focuses primarily on queer media, so I had to keep it related. I am very pleased with the results, which you can view in my gallery, if you didn't get the e-zine.
Also, Bennet Roberts from Roberts and Tilton Gallery (Los Angeles) recently called me after I had sent him a submission email. He seemed very excited about my artwork and paid me a few heavy compliments. Unfortunately, my artwork doesn't exactly fit into the style of his gallery, but I was flattered that he took the time to call me and tell me how much he enjoyed my work. It was kind of a bittersweet moment in my search for a national gallery that likes what I do. Things are looking up.
Thank you,
Steven Thomas

The comic strip "Bunny Rabbit" is finished and will be published in the new issue of the art and fiction e-zine theSpindle, July 14. Please be sure to check it out. I will be posting it here after it is published too, if you happen to miss it.
"The Motorcycle Boy" is featured in the current issue of Urbancode magazine, a PDF based arts e-zine based out of Washington, DC. They do not yet have a website, but you can subscribe to it by emailing "ADD ME" to urbancodemag@gmail.com.
I will also be showing more artwork again at 'SALON', hosted by Studio71South, Tuesday, August 7, at Rocky's Tavern, 633 Ottawa Ave NW, just north of downtown Grand Rapids. (Map) Please stop by to see my artwork and other local artist's any time after 8 PM.
Thank you,

I am in the process of getting all my paintings professionally photographed at Studio71South. You may have noticed that most pictures in the gallery have been updated with these much nicer photos. The following paintings are being photographed right now and will be updated as soon as I get them:
  • "Sins of the Flesh"
  • "The Third Rider"
  • "Study for a Figure"
  • "The Fear"
  • "Judgement Day"
  • "Heroes and Villians"
If you are in Grand Rapids Tuesday (7/2), stop by Rocky's Tavern to see some of my new artwork. Saturday July 14 th I will be at the 'Avenue for the Arts' in Grand Rapids and should have prints for sale. I am also working on a comic strip installation for the e-zine, theSpindle, that will be featured in their next issue.
Thank you,
Steven Thomas

I am currently working with Studio71South making poster prints of my artwork. Soon you will be able to purchase these prints here. If you are interested in a specific piece or pieces of artwork please contact me via email. I display new artwork at a regular exhibiton once a month at Rocky's Tavern in Grand Rapids, MI. I am also busy seeking gallery and illustration work, as well as working on my first solo record. This site will be updated regularly with new artwork and news and may be going through some changes in the next few months.
